Every GoviLoop order ships from our warehouse in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong, which means it is an import into the United States. Imports attract duty. Most shops handle that by staying quiet and letting the courier bill you at the door. We do not, and this page explains exactly what the 10% line on your checkout is.
What the charge is
A flat 10% of the item total, calculated and shown as its own line at checkout before you pay. It is not applied to the shipping cost, and it is not a service fee that we keep — we forward it to the carrier as the importer of record.
What it means for you
- Nothing is collected on delivery. No duty, no tax, no brokerage fee, no disbursement fee.
- The checkout total is the final total. Items, shipping ($5.95, or free over $59), and the 10% line. Nothing is added afterwards.
- It is refunded in full if you return the order or we cancel it — alongside the item price.
Why we prepay it instead of letting FedEx bill you
Courier-collected duty is the single worst part of buying from abroad. The parcel arrives, the driver asks for money nobody mentioned, and the brokerage fee on top is often larger than the duty itself. Prepaying costs us the admin and costs you nothing extra, and it means the number you agreed to at checkout is the number you pay.
If a courier ever asks you for money
Do not pay it. Photograph the request and e-mail it to support@goviloop.com with your order number. We will settle it directly with the carrier, and if you have already paid we reimburse you.
What this does to delivery time
Customs clearance is why an import takes longer than a domestic parcel. Our honest window is 7–10 business days: 2–3 business days of handling at the warehouse, then 5–7 business days in transit including the clearance leg. It is normal for tracking to sit still for a day at a customs facility — that pause needs nothing from you.
What we declare
Every parcel carries a customs declaration naming the real goods, the real brand and the real value. Under-declaring value to reduce duty is fraud, it voids your ability to claim for a lost parcel, and we do not do it. The trade-off, stated plainly
Buying from a Hong Kong warehouse means you wait 7–10 business days instead of two days, and you pay 10% on the goods. In exchange the range is priced without a US distributor’s margin stacked on top. If a 7–10 business days wait does not work for what you need, buy locally — we would rather say that than take an order you will regret.
