Every GoviLoop order ships from our warehouse in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong, so every order is an import into the country it is delivered to — the United States, the United Kingdom or one of the twelve EU countries we serve. Imports attract duty and tax. Most shops handle that by staying quiet and letting the courier bill you at the door. We do not, and this page explains how it works instead.
What the price includes
The price on the product page already includes taxes and import duties:
- United States: no sales tax is added at checkout, and any import duty on the parcel is paid by us.
- United Kingdom and EU: the price includes VAT, and any import VAT or duty on the parcel is paid by us.
The only thing added at checkout is the shipping method you choose: USPS US$40 or FedEx US$58 to the United States, or DHL US$35 or FedEx US$58 to the United Kingdom and the EU.
What it means for you
- Nothing is collected on delivery. No duty, no VAT, no brokerage fee, no disbursement fee.
- The checkout total is the final total. Items plus shipping. Nothing is added afterwards.
- Nothing to reclaim on a return. Because tax and duty are part of the item price, refunding the item price refunds them too.
Why we do it this way
Courier-collected duty is the single worst part of buying from abroad. The parcel arrives, the driver asks for money nobody mentioned, and the brokerage fee on top is often larger than the duty itself. Settling it ourselves costs us the admin and costs you nothing extra, and it means the number you agreed to at checkout is the number you pay.
If a courier ever asks you for money
Do not pay it. Photograph the request and e-mail it to support@goviloop.com with your order number. We will settle it directly with the carrier, and if you have already paid we reimburse you.
What this does to delivery time
Customs clearance is why an import takes longer than a domestic parcel. Our honest window is about 6–12 business days: 1–2 business days of processing at the warehouse, then 5–10 business days in transit including the clearance leg. It is normal for tracking to sit still for a day or two on a customs scan — that pause needs nothing from you.
What we declare
Every parcel carries a customs declaration naming the real goods, the real brand and the real value. Under-declaring value to reduce duty is fraud, it voids your ability to claim for a lost parcel, and we do not do it. The trade-off, stated plainly
Buying from a Hong Kong warehouse means you wait about 6–12 business days instead of two, and shipping is a flat charge per order rather than free. In exchange the range is priced without a local distributor’s margin stacked on top, and tax is never a surprise. If that wait does not work for what you need, buy locally — we would rather say that than take an order you will regret.
